The Script pt.2

When it came to actually writing the script, it was difficult to write something that done exactly what i wanted. Trying to write anything that was supposed to make an audience laugh at a character they are supposed to seriously feel sympathetic towards seemed almost impossible. If they viewer are laughing at the addict at the very start of the film, then there's a good chance they will laugh when they should be taking the character seriously. Due to this i decided to portray the addict as a victim from start to finish. This was also difficult as i needed a way for the addict who has no money to somehow get the money to buy drugs. Initially i had the idea to have him steal it but if the addict steals them all sympathy goes out the window. Having the addict beg for money isn't very hard hitting enough. In the end i decided on having the addict be humiliated by two business people who make him sing and dance as they through money at him. This gets the audience to feel sorry for the addict, it makes them hate the business people and may also put into perspective how beggars, addict and homeless people are treated everyday. After obtaining the money the addict then gets his drugs and overdoses. I didn't want to end the film on the addict dying as it seemed too easy or boring to end it like that. Instead I had the addict overdose and end up in hospital. When the hospital phone his parents. His father answers and hangs up without telling the mother what has happened to their son. This again should make the audience feel incredibly sympathetic towards the addict by the end of the film. I have also decided not to show t nurse talking on the phone so the audience never know who phoned the father which leaves it open to interpretation that the father may have had something to do with his own son overdosing.
