Casting

When writing "A Bad Time" i made sure not to give any of the characters names or genders to make casting as easy as possible. Without having to worry about finding a specific gender for a specific role (other than the mother and father) all i had to worry about was who fit the role. After having Alex Gray and Fergus Massie act out one of the scenes in the script it there was no doubt that they should play the addict and the drug dealer. They had great chemistry together due to them already being friends and were comfortable enough to work in scenes that required them to fight or argue all while enjoying themselves . The only roles that i thought may be difficult to cast were the mother and father. Luckily enough I was able to get Chloe Johnson to help with producing the film and she was able to find me two actors who were perfect for the role, both age and looks wise. Vincent Spangenberg was cast as the father who had the exact look and presence i was looking for and it also helped that there was a slight resemblance between him and Alex. It wouldn't be completely unbelievable that they would be related. Deirdre Little was cast as the mother who again was also a great fit for the character. Due to being a mother herself she knew exactly how a mother would feel or react in certain situations which helped a great deal.
